NICOLE KENNELLY, LMT, owner of Body Balance Massage Therapy
Specialties: Sports & Medical Massage, TMJ/Headache Treatment, Customized Wellness Programs, Customized Sports Massage Programs, Rock Tape Kinesiology Taping
Days Available: Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Nicole started Body Balance Massage Therapy in 2010 because of her passion for sports massage and movement and recognizing that, even in a city as big as NYC, there was a large demand for professionals specializing in this field.
Nicole first began her education as a Biology major at St John’s University. During this time, she volunteered in specialties such as physical therapy, occupational therapy and physical medicine, however all of these areas of medicine seemed to be lacking something. Nicole then started to explore other fields and found the holistic (or Wholistic) concepts of Massage Therapy a perfect fit, becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2004.
In practice, Nicole utilizes different massage and manual therapy techniques aimed at restoring functional movement, increasing performance and recovery and decreasing chronic pain. Her continuing education includes classes in: Orthopedic Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) Level 1, Rock Tape (FMT) Kinesiology Taping, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Original Strength (OS) Pressing RESET
Nicole’s own athletic background includes: martial arts training, holding a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do from Eric San Jose Martial Arts, training in MMA, BJJ and American style kickboxing. Most recently, Nicole has begun Crossfit again, joining Crossfit North Tribe in Southold, NY!

Andres A, LMT
Specialties: Sports & Medical Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Early Bird Appointments
Days Available: Monday & Wednesday

Andres started off his journey to becoming a massage therapist at the Swedish Institute and then transferred to New York College where he graduated. There he studied sports massage, reflexology, asian massage, thai massage, medical massage, trigger point therapy and chair massage. He interned at Columbia University with their Olympic fencing team as well as doing an internship in Bellevue hospital with their nursing staff.

Andres says he loves being a massage therapist and initially started his journey because of his wanting to help people but wasn’t sure in what way to do it. As a child he played sports such and soccer and handball and was frequently injured causing him to need treatment. He would go to a Columbian physical therapist who worked with major league soccer players and his style was mostly hands-on. As he grew up, he learned more about the holistic approach to things and that really seemed to hit home with Andres and led him to massage therapy.

Andres says, “I hope this gives you a little insight into who I am and I look forward to working with you on your journey back to a well maintained body.”

Michael is a NYS licensed Massage Therapist, graduating from the New York College of Health Professions in 2013. He has significant experience in different modalities including: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Tui Na/Asian Bodywork, Reflexology, Medical Massage and Sports Massage.
He utilizes his knowledge of Western and Eastern techniques using anatomy in helping to assess and treat pathologies and working on channels and points to help develop a quick and accurate individualized treatment plan. Michael uses a medical approach to massage. Upon addressing the tissues upon initial assessment, he uses his knowledge and intuition to decide the best approach for the client.

Michael says, “I address the whole person and the whole body. Clients are more than just their trigger points and adhesions. I like to create a feeling of integration with the areas that are hypertonic (tight) or in spasm with the parts of the body that are well. My teachers taught me that deep tissue need not be painful. I allow the tissue to invite me in.”

Throughout the last 5 years, Alec has had the great fortune of working in many medical massage settings for clients with serious injuries who really need an effective therapeutic massage. Through these experiences, he has developed a strong desire to help others from recovering from injuries, reducing chronic pains, or assisting in relieving depression/anxiety. Alec says that he has experienced all of those in some way before so he is able to deal with each client without judgement and with compassion. It has also made him much more versatile so he can confidently treat spinal problems, sciatica, tendonitis, bone fractures and meniscus tears.

Finally, Alec feels that through Tai Chi training for the past 10 years, he has the quietness and calmness of mind necessary to give a massage while being present in the moment and alert to my client’s reaction to the work. He says he can always listen to the client’s body and respond accordingly. To achieve this, he uses modalities such as Swedish, Myofascial release, Shiatsu and Tuina to effectively reduce pain and restore balance to the body.
